Na Bo-bae can light up a room, but touching somebody in it is another matter. Baek Ho-rang can negotiate a business deal without blinking, yet his artificial heart is running out of power. For them, the electricity is a survival problem.
Take Charge of My Heart is a 2026 Korean fantasy romantic comedy led by Chae Soo-bin and Kim Young-kwang. Bo-bae’s strange electrical ability began after a childhood lightning strike. Years of gloves and careful distance have turned something as ordinary as holding hands into a risk she can’t casually take.
Then an accidental kiss introduces a baffling exception. Ho-rang doesn’t react to her touch the way everyone else does. Bo-bae sees a rare chance to experience closeness safely; Ho-rang initially wants nothing to do with the complication. It’s a wonderfully unequal first impression.
Their paths cross again at a hospital, where trouble with his artificial-heart battery leaves Ho-rang dependent on her proximity. He needs to get through three months before another operation. She has her own deadline: as a drama writer, she must turn romantic imagination into a convincing script before her contract runs out.
The bargain makes sense on paper. She helps keep his heart charged; he helps her work through a romance wish list. That gives their contract relationship a sharper question than whether they’ll kiss: how can either person know the affection is real when they have practical reasons to stay close?
Kim Young-kwang’s Baek Ho-rang is a wealthy TS Resort executive with a succession fight waiting at work. The corporate confidence is part of his appeal, but it also looks rather flimsy next to a problem he can’t solve with money. Bo-bae isn’t another accessory to his business ambitions; she has a career and her own list of things she wants from life.
The series gives this setup room to breathe through cohabitation and dates framed as research. Chae Soo-bin’s Na Bo-bae is especially easy to root for as a woman who can write romantic situations more easily than she can live them. Her hopes aren’t silly merely because the premise is funny.
The wider cast complicates the charge. Cha Woo-min plays Ji Eun-ho, a star who admires Bo-bae and gives the romance a genuine rival. Jeong Jae-kwang’s Choi Do-yoon and Shin Do-hyun’s Han Seol-hee pull the story toward inheritance, family expectations and the less charming side of wealth.
This is not ten straight episodes of sparks and flirting. The first three establish the meeting, bargain and first date, while later chapters make more space for outside pressures. I’d give it through Episode 3 before deciding whether the couple’s particular brand of awkwardness works for you.
The source is worth getting right, too. Although some searches call it a webtoon, Netflix credits Haebeon’s Naver web novel Charge Me Up. This is an adaptation with an invented medical-fantasy rule, not a show asking you to treat human electricity as plausible cardiology.
Try it if you enjoy contract romance, a rich lead losing control of the situation, and a heroine with reasons to pursue love beyond simply meeting a handsome man. The tone mixes silliness with loneliness, so viewers after gentle romance should expect moments of worry and a love-triangle detour.
Skip it if you need grounded science, hate corporate succession arguments, or want every minute devoted to the main couple. The show’s best idea isn’t that Bo-bae can recharge Ho-rang. It’s that someone who has spent years fearing physical contact finally meets a man who must learn the difference between needing her power and choosing her company.
